2026-27 Dragon Swim and Dive
Thank you to everyone who came out to Swim Tryouts this year. We appreciated the effort demonstrated during tryouts by the athletes in attendance. As mentioned in the meeting after the completion of the time trials, the Team is very competitive and cannot accommodate all athletes who want to join.
If you are brand new to Round Rock High School and did not make the team, please try to find something to become involved in. It is a very large school, and your high school experience will be drastically improved if you join one of the many extracurricular activities offered here.
If your athlete did make the team, please plan to attend a Parent Meeting on Thursday, 5/28 @ 6 PM in the 1100 Lecture Hall at RRHS. Make every effort to attend as we will be discussing all things Dragon Swim and Dive (expectations, parent support, schedule, merchandise, etc, etc. )
The Team roster will be sent to school counselors so adjustments can be made.
Thank you again to all who tried out.
2026-27 Tryout Information - Updated 5/19
***Time Trials will be at the RRAC @ 7:15 pm
The RRAC is located at 2801 Gattis School Rd, Round Rock, TX 78664
2026-27 RRHS Swim Team Tryout Information
Monday, 5/18 - Girls workout 7:15 - 8:15 PM, Boys workout 8:15 - 9:15 PM
Tuesday, 5/19 - 7:15 - 9:00 PM, Time trials, Girls and Boys. 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, and 100 Fly
If an athlete has a conflict due to a middle school activity, they should plan on attending a morning session of tryouts on the same days from 7:00 AM to 7:50 AM.
Both days are mandatory for all swimmers interested in joining the team. Swimmers should arrive 15 minutes early to check in and turn in their physical and a copy of their 2025-26 report card. Report cards can be printed from Home Access.
Tryouts will be held at Micki Krebsbach Pool, 301 Deepwood Drive, Round Rock, TX 78681. The pool is located on the campus of Round Rock High School.
All students attending tryouts will need to bring a copy of their physical dated after 5/1/26 and will also need to complete the online athletic participation forms. If an athlete has a physical that is still current, please bring proof. Please note that before athletes can participate in the fall, they must have a physical dated after 5/1/26 Physicals can be uploaded to Rank One before tryouts (preferred method), in which case a copy is not needed. Please use the link below to fill out the forms BEFORE tryouts. Physicals will be offered at a low cost at RRHS in May, see post below.
Online forms are now available and can be found at https://roundrockisd.rankonesport.com/New/Home.aspx
If a student is new to the district and does not yet have a student ID, please bring a paper copy of the physical. The online forms can be completed at a later date.
Suggested goal times:
200 Free - G 2:08, B 1:58
200 IM - G 2:30, B 2:13
50 Free - G 27.5, B 24.0
100 Fly - G 1:08, B 1:00.50
100 Free - G 59.5, B 54.5
500 Free - G 5:43, B 5:18
100 Back - G 1:10, B 1:05
Breast - G 1:19.50, B 1:10.50
Though the above times will help in the assessment of athletes, attainment of the times above does not guarantee a spot on the team, nor does failing to make a time disqualify a swimmer from consideration. Other major factors that are considered are the workout portion of tryouts, as well as grades.
The 2026-27 Team will be posted on the RRHS Swim Page by Friday, May 22nd. A parent meeting will be held the last week of May at Round Rock High School to discuss the season, and it is an opportunity to ask any questions about the team.
The RRHS Swim Team is highly competitive and not a program to learn how to swim or to obtain a PE Credit. All students trying out should know the four strokes at a minimum. Although not necessary, it is highly recommended that students have experience on a swim team before considering trying out. There are multiple summer league and club programs in the area that will help prepare swimmers for tryouts.
FAQ's
- Practice is mandatory every day.
- Swimming is single-blocked, but there is practice before school on the days when swimmers do not have the block.
- In addition to swimming, workouts will include a strength and conditioning program.
- The season runs from the end of August until mid-February
- Not all swimmers will participate in travel meets due to meet entry restrictions
- Students should choose swimming for their schedule. Students who do not make the team will have their schedules changed before the first day of school.
Being a member of an athletic team at RRHS is a privilege and not a right. All team members are expected to uphold all team and school rules, demonstrate a good attitude and strong work ethic, and treat teammates and coaches with respect at all times. Any student who is considered detrimental to the PROGRAM will be dismissed from the team.

District Meet Officials - Help Needed
Our District Meet is quickly approaching, and we are in need of officials. Please use the following link to sign up
https://forms.gle/
In addition, the AISD District 6A and 5A meets are on Friday, Jan 23 (following our meet) and Saturday, Jan 24 at the RRAC in the morning. They desperately need officials - both to get the meets certified and just to have a fair meet.
Last year, the 5A meet was not certified, and we had so few officials that they were begging for volunteers from the parents attending. Not a great situation. The 6A situation was not ideal either.
Because those schools don't have pools and don't host meets, they just don't have parents who are trained. If you are able to help out with either or both please contact Odis Jones, AISD assistant athletic director. Email odis.l.jones@austinisd.

Drag Suits
We are asking that all swimmers bring drag suits with them daily for use during practice. The suits below work for both boys and girls and are recommended, but Nike shorts or similar can also be worn. Girls are also welcome to wear an older loose suit on top of their normal one to add drag.
Cold Weather Guidelines and Cocoa
Please remember that unless communication is sent out, practice will resume as normal. If the "feels like temperature" drops below 20 we will not practice, but otherwise we are hard at work as normal. The pool is heated. We are entering the last phase of our season, so swimmers must practice despite some days being cold this time of year.
With the colder weather, we are asking for donations of packets of hot chocolate and apple cider. If you are at the store, please pick up an extra box and send it in with your swimmer.
Thank you!

Holiday Party
Holiday Practice Schedule
For planning purposes:
No practice, Friday, 12/12
No practice 12/19 - 12/28
Practice from 8:00 - 10:15 On Dec 29 - 31 and Jan 2.
New Year's Team Breakfast immediately following the 12/31 practice.
Athletes are expected to attend holiday training just as they would normal practices while school is in session. If family plans, such as travel/vacation, conflict with practice, an email from a parent is necessary.
Operation Blue Santa
Once again, Round Rock Swim-Dive-Polo will be helping collect toys for children in need this holiday season. We are asking that each athlete bring a toy to donate. Toys can be brought into practice. Please follow the guidelines for donation:
- New, unused toys (please do NOT wrap them)
- No food, liquids, powder, glass
- No stuffies
- Ages 0-1 and 8-10 are most needed
Thanks for your support and help in making the holiday season a little brighter for area children.
25-26 Team Handbook
The 2025-26 Team Handbook is posted below.
To facilitate the beginning of the year team meeting, please read the handbook beforehand, as it should answer many of the questions about the season and expectations for your athlete.
After reading, please use the following Google form to indicate that both the parent and the athlete have read and understand the rules for the team. Athletes will not be able to practice until the handbook form and all physical forms have been completed.

2025-26 RRHS Swim Team
Congratulations to our 2025-26 RRHS Swim Team. The roster is posted below.
We had a huge turnout for tryouts this year, with 74 athletes competing for a spot on the team. Please keep in mind that this process is not an easy one, as many talented swimmers do not appear on the roster.
As discussed at tryouts, if you did not make the team, please try to find some club, extracurricular, or program to get involved with at RRHS, as it will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Also, keep in mind that there have been many swimmers tryout for the team who do not make it their first year. If swimming is something that you love, then do not give up. Keep at it and come back stronger and even more determined next year.
All schedule changes in and out of the swim period will be handled from our end, but please double-check with your counselor in late July.
We are looking forward to a great season. More info about suits, a parent meeting, and the team to come mid-July.
Have a great rest of the summer,
Coach Arredondo
